It was at least 35 degrees, maybe warmer. Sky was a brilliant hue of dazzling blue. Airforce jets making white lines overhead, all day long. We had decided to go sledding when we first got up this morning. Kind of a no brainer- since it was so warm and clear. Breathtaking was the sky, the air, the fabulous sunshine. The mountains seemed especially close today.

After an amazing couple hours of sledding, we loaded up our gear and headed UP to check out Big Cottonwood Canyon. This is the road that you travel up, and I mean up, to get to several of the most popular ski resorts in Utah. We were not alone. Hundreds of eager cars, trucks, suv's. Some heading to Solitude, some to Brighton, some farther to resorts in Park City. Skiers, snow boarders, cross country skiers, hikers, ice climbers. Others, like us, just wanted to check out the Mountains, as well as the accompanying features- red rock formations and conifers, animal tracks and spectators.

Airborne Alert
On this particular sledding hill, there are actually ramps that snow boarders practice on.
Lola jumped one of them on her sled, on her second time down the hill.
Unintentionally!

WOW! ZOE IS 9 TODAY! We are in shock that we have a nine year old. Zoe pointed out today that this is the last year that she will be a single digit. We are so proud of her and she is a wonderful young lady. Aunt Sarah sent her cooking supplies for her birthday and Zoe decorated her own cake this year. She has made friends quickly at her new school and she is enjoying not having to practice violin for the next few months because of her cast:)

We had our first visit from Nana and Papa. They came in to see the girls and to be with Zoe as she celebrated her birthday. We had such a great time and Papa helped with several projects around the house.

Both of the girls lost teeth last week. Lola lost her first tooth! She didn't want anyone to pull it so it took some convincing from Nana to let her. The tooth fairy came and Lola is now working on the next one.

UPDATE: We found snow boots! The day that we found them( New Year's Day) the girls went out to play and Zoe fell and broke her thumb. She has a little orange cast that she will have for the next several weeks.
